Mother's Day 09

I didn't have to work this past holiday, so we made a huge day of it! We went to church, then ran to Gary's folks and then my Gramma's house where my folks were. We ate and played and ate and played and then went home and CRASHED!






Kristin borrowed dad's shoes to go outside with. Later, dad wanted to go outside, so he used Kristin's shoes. He's never been one to care what others think of him or what he does. Mom and Kristin got a good laugh out of his silliness.


There was a large blue temptation in the farmyard. Most of the cousins decided to make it look more appealing (or something) by turning it over. Then Kurt played like he was in an accident. This is a picture you'd NEVER wish to see as a mother, I can tell you that much!




Gramma got calls from others not there on Mother's Day: Brad, Blake and Paul. Way to remember Mother's Day, guys!!!


We also celebrated May's birthdays.

Mom got the bright idea to label the fuel tanks for Lynn's benefit, since he's running the farm now...just so he wouldn't get confused! She made a beautiful label for each tank---Diesel and Gas---then had some unsuspecting cousins tape them on. Lynn and mom are always teasing back and forth.

Yard cleanup

"It's ALWAYS fun at Gramma's house, at Gramma's house..." I love that song! And its so true! My boys are very good at finding fun "boy things" to do at the house. Here, they are floating paper plate "boats" in puddles made after the rainstorm. They also thought there were blessings sent from heaven when the nearby field had all kinds of rocks in it just for them!



We had a "First Annual Yard Cleanup" at Gramma's house this last weekend. It was fun-filled and will be repeated until things are to Gramma's satisfaction. It was fun to work together and mingle. Thanks to mom for orchestrating this event and providing refreshments! :P


After the tractor disked the garden, Blaine and Kristin planted their garden. The flower beds were cleaned out, the stray mice were exterminated, the weeds were wacked and burned, garbage was cleaned up after the wind had its way with it and extra farm machinery parts were cleaned up and piled up to be hauled away. It was a very physically demanding day, but so worth it!



I got the job of pruning the apple trees. After my strength was gone using the pruners, I used Russ's "Sawz-all" to do the bigger branches. They turned out OK. If you disagree, please refrain from commenting! :) Hahaha!


Grampa left his tractor by the back door, waiting to be fixed. Russ got the tractor running and out of the yard! Yay!!!


After a long day's work, we rested a bit and watched the bonfire burn. Even the puppy was tired!!!



Gramma came out to inspect our work and was glad to see all the effort to clean up. She went over to "the old house" and looked around for a few minutes then Jamie went on the 4-wheeler and picked her up. We love you Gramma!!

Campbell's Mom's day program

Campbell's Kindergarten class had a program for moms. They made invitations for us and multiple reminders went out to invite us to it. They met us at the door and took us to their desk. Then they lined up in the front of the classroom and sang a song. Then they moved to the side of the classroom and sang songs from Jack and the Beanstalk. Then we went to the computer lab and watched a computer presentation where the kids drew a picture of themselves and their mom and told why they loved their mom. Campbell said, "I love my mom because she takes me to the store." (It's about priorities, folks!) Then they lined up and got us all a cookie and punch. They served us first then themselves. Such good manners! It was so cute and such a fun morning! I am thankful for his teachers and the time and patience they put into getting these things pulled off and especially letting them know they are loved! It takes special people to be teachers!!!


Campbell wanted to play on the playground after the program and stopped long enough to pose for a picture. Such a cutie!! Hayden found a buddy of his and was in heaven to have a friend there!

Here's a song they sang for us. I LOVED it, especially because Campbell was actually singing. He doesn't usually do that, so I had to get visual proof! :)
